So after an eventful weekend, I finally sat down to make a new meal for the family. Tomorrow we will be having mini-hamburgers, sliced carrot and cheese rounds, seasoned red onion slices, and rice with sesame seeds on top.
Overall, today took less time than last time, but still longer than I would have liked. All it all it looks delicious. The only thing missing would be some fruit to go with it and maybe some blanched snow peas just to give it some added color and flavor.
We have started using more things from the fridge, so not as much is going to waste. I think it is turning out to be a great idea, I just need to get in the habit more often so I can get faster.
The nice thing about making this is that I have enough left over to make a second batch later this week or next. Hope the others like it cause it smells wonderful.

Done, finally.
Its super late (2am) but I finished lunches for today. Took me longer than anticipated because I had to clean dishes and the stove before I could start, but the end result looks fantastic. Can't wait to have it tomorrow at lunch! Yum!

Off to a late start
So today I was supposed to start my bento lunch making, but my daughter was ill, so I did not make anything. Our bento boxes came in and everyone is excited to start having lunch in them. So even though I'm starting a day late, things are looking good for tomorrow.
Tonight I am prepped and ready to make a Tamagoyaki bento from the Just Bento Cookbook. Tamagoyaki is nothing more than an omelet, but unlike american omelets, Tamagoyaki is a layered, rolled omelet.
Along with the Tamagoyaki will be a simple ham & cream cheese vegetable roll. taking a couple slices of ham, adding some cream cheese, taking sliced carrot and green beans and making a roll out of them. Looks awesome!
Not to be forgotten, we are going to throw in some garlic sauteed spinach and the main ingredient; rice.
Because the Mrs. leaves for work earlier than I get up, I will be making this tonight and I'll work on posting pictures later.

Beginning of the End
So I created this blog to document my chronicles in making lunches for my daughter. This is the second summer she has asked me to make lunch for her while she attends a summer program.
Today I purchased the bento boxes. I've been pouring over recipes, trying to find things that look tasty and are healthy and I'm making a small list of recipes so that I can purchase the stuff I need for the coming week.
This is the box she chose. It features Jiji from the Studio Ghibli film Kiki's Delivery Service. Mine isn't nearly as stylish, but simple.
